If you’re still dreaming about starting a Sonex project, be sure to print this picture and put it under Santa’s (or your wife’s) pillow.

Reminder: We will once again be closed for our annual year-end shut-down from Saturday, December 23rd through Monday, January 1st. During this time we will be conducting inventory and other year-end tasks, and giving our staff some extra time with their families. Our phone lines will be unavailable during this time, however, email correspondence will be replied to as time allows. You may contact the various Sonex departments via the Contact Form on our web site. Note that we will not be processing orders or conducting unplanned shipments during this time. If you need to order anything for shipment before January 2nd, we encourage you to place your orders as soon as possible this week.

Paul first flew Xenos serial number X0061 on April 8th, and has written a series of feature articles for Kitplanes Magazine about the Zaero electric package installation, his being the first customer installation to be completed and flown.

The latest installment of Paul’s feature story series covers his eXenos first flight and includes more great information about the Zaero installation along with some great tips for the first flight of any homebuilt aircraft.

He joins the ranks of Tom Larkin who currently flies an extensive schedule of shows each year, and Bob Carlton who earned the 2017 Art Scholl award the 2015 Bill Barber award thanks in-part to his shows with the SubSonex.

EAA is recognizing several aircraft design anniversaries at AirVenture 2023, including the 25th Anniversary of Sonex. If you are flying your Sonex to AirVenture Oshkosh, please pre-register so that EAA can keep you informed of the upcoming activities. Attend our Open House & Homecoming Fly-In!
Our 19th Sonex Open House and Homecoming Fly-In event will be held on Sunday, July 23rd, the day before the official start of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Sonex pilots flying-in to AirVenture make this event their first stop for the week, making a great opportunity to see customer built aircraft, meet their owners, tour the Sonex facility and meet our staff. The event closes with a mass-taxi of customer aircraft along with Sonex factory prototypes to the AirVenture grounds. Get More Info!

Factory Tours:
Sonex will be offering tours of our factory headquarters facility every morning, beginning Tuesday July 25th through Saturday July 29th at 10am. You can drive directly to Sonex Aircraft,  or RSVP to catch free transportation from the Sonex exhibit booth on AirVenture grounds (transportation back to AirVenture grounds also provided). To Register for a Tour, please complete our Registration Form.

Part Order Pickups During AirVenture:
Sonex will again be accommodating part order pickups during AirVenture this year. All part orders must be made in-advance.

  • Be sure to place any orders as soon as possible if you would like to pickup during AirVenture. We cannot guarantee that parts will be in-stock in-time for pickup at the show. Please visit our Web Store to place your order. Make a note in the comments section of your order letting us know that you’d like to pick up during AirVenture 2023 and the date and time you’ll visit the factory to pick up.
  • All part orders must be picked-up from the Sonex Factory. Parts will not be brought to the Sonex exhibit booth for pickup.
  • Pickups will be made by appointment only, and appointments will be available during the following dates & times:
  • You must pre-arrange an RMA for all parts returned for credit or inspection/service. Contact our technical support staff via the Contact Form on our web site to request an RMA.
  • Note that the facility may be closed early on any given day during AirVenture if no pickups are scheduled. Any questions about AirVenture part order pickups may be directed to our Customer Service team.

Sonex is excited to announce a new option for Sonex, Waiex and Xenos B-Models: Dual Sticks! Thanks to popular demand, we have created an optional Dual Stick installation for all B-Model aircraft, and are making a retrofit package available to customers wishing to convert their existing aircraft.

This change includes a new Universal Seat Pan installation that accommodates both Center and Dual Stick configuration installations and features a removable forward seat pan to improve access for autopilot servo installations, and installation & service of avionics sensor boxes or antennas. The removable Forward Seat Pan installs via piano hinge and includes cover plates for unused center stick or dual stick locations.

New B-Model kit orders can be upgraded with dual sticks for $760 and existing customers may retrofit their kit or flying aircraft via a $1,500 B-Model Dual Stick Retrofit Package. The Dual Stick installation represents a weight increase of approximately 2.25 lbs. vs. Center Stick Installation. Dual Stick B-Model Upholstery options are coming soon.

NOTE: No Parts Exchanges or Returns are accepted for Center Stick Configuration Parts. Dual Stick Retrofit Kit lead time is approximately 10-12 weeks. Existing kit order customers may add the Dual Stick Upgrade to their kit orders by contacting Sonex Customer Service (some parts may be backordered and ship separately).
